Impact‑Modified PS Plastic

Impact‑modified PS is classified into medium‑impact, high‑impact and ultra‑high‑impact grades according to rubber content (typically 5 %‑15 %). It basically retains PS’s original rigidity, good processability and high surface gloss. With rubber incorporated, tensile strength and transparency decrease accordingly (HIPS is generally opaque). Its performances are comparable to ABS. It can even be injection‑molded or extruded using ABS‑designed molds, showing excellent processing adaptability.

Main Applications

Home‑Appliances & Electronic Devices: Widely applied for housings and internal components of TVs, air‑conditioners, vacuum cleaners, washing machines and copiers. High‑gloss HIPS is specially adopted for appearance parts requiring premium surface finish.

Extruded Products: Extrusion‑grade HIPS is used for refrigerator liners, freezer inner shells, washing‑machine inner casings and food‑packaging sheets which are further thermoformed into cups, plates and containers. Low‑foam HIPS features wood‑like appearance and can be sawn and nailed, suitable for packaging, furniture and building‑material articles.

Daily‑use Goods & Toys: Thanks to favorable colorability and processability, it is extensively manufactured into various toys, household articles and disposable products.

3D‑Printing Materials: It serves as dissolvable support material for ABS and other filaments (soluble in limonene solvent). It can also be directly printed into standalone high‑impact functional parts such as mechanical components, tool jigs and electronic‑device housings.
